Questions you should ask yourself
The statement of, "Oh no, I am all right and healthy, I do not need a medical or a life insurance," is one of the main reasons that people who are going to travel abroad do not bother about taking out a life insurance or a medical insurance. Nevertheless, if you are a quandary about a decision of whether to take out an insurance policy or not, ask yourself the following questions.
- Am I going into an area where there might be a danger to my life and limb and health?
- Am I of an age where I might have a sudden medical emergency or attack of sickness?
- Do I have the money to pay for a prolonged and unexpected hospital visit?
- Can my family members afford to fly me home in case I need to be evacuated in an emergency?
- If I do not have a life insurance, and I fall sick, abroad, who is going to cover my medical expenses financially?
- Is my travel going to be in a country, which has extremely expensive health-care services?
- Does the country I am travelling to, not has immediate access to excellent healthcare services?
- Is my journey going to be in a location where it will be very difficult for me to be evacuated easily in case of medical emergencies?
Some are going to be answered in affirmative, and some in the negative. To make sure that you do not fall into any such distressing financial situation, take out the medical and life insurance policy before you travel abroad, now!
